The 2022 event season is off and running and some of the best players from all over the country have been battling it out to prove who is the best of the best. We will be updating players all throughout the course of the next few months who are playing at an elevated level and are showing the college coaches that are in attendance why they should be offered a chance to compete at the next level. Here is a brief list of some of the standouts so far.
FINLEY CHASTAIN 2027 SSA GAMEBALL
You may have thought that she was older and mature than what she is because of her abilities on the basketball court. Playing 17U as a seventh grader is something that is very uncommon in today’s game, but Finley looked the part over the entire weekend at the Clash of the Clubs. She was able to get to her spots on the floor and made big shots all weekend. While still maturing physically, she has all the tools that will make her a big-time national prospect when it is all said and done. She was able to earn the respect of her opponents quickly on the court and has a bright future moving forward.
MEREDITH MAYES 2023 Griffin Elite
The ACU commit has been one of the efficient players on the court all spring. She was a dominate force on the block and was able to score the ball around the basket with ease. She shot the ball from the perimeter very well and highlighted her ability to pass from the high post. One area of her game where she really improved was in her ball handling skills. There were many instances where she was able to break pressure by putting the ball on floor and getting downhill. She is a player is going to have an instant impact at the next level the day she lands on campus.
VANESSA SAIDU 2023 43 Hoops Elite
Saidu very easily could have been the most impactful player so far. Her energy and intensity were felt from the minute that she stepped on the floor. Standing at 6’2, she makes it exceedingly difficult for her opponents to get easy look while she is defending. She played well in every game and the college coaches section made sure to follow her progression over the weekend. She showed her ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter as well as her willingness to get downhill and attack the basket. She is a legit division one prospect, and this past weekend was more than enough to show schools that she can be impact player at the next level.
MIA SMITH 2023 Shock 2023-DIAZ
One word can describe her weekend and that word is competitor. She simply competes every single play on the floor. Against a loaded and talent Cy-Fair EYBL squad, she managed their pressure and made all the right plays to keep her team in the game. She has a lightning quick first step and does not turn the ball over against pressure. One area that she impressed the college coaches’ section was in her ability to shoot the three. She made timely plays all weekend and helped her stock grow in terms of recruitment.
SAMYHA SUFFREN 2023 Team Curry
The Virginia commit has been very solid for her squad. She is natural PG who can is the floor general on the court. Her ability to defend on the ball is something that may go overlooked at times. She can simply shut down any opponent that she is tasked to guard and make it hard for opposing teams to get into their sets. She has a nice solid frame and is not afraid of contact at the rim. She can handle the ball at a high rate and is a high-level playmaker for her teammates. She is one who will step on campus at the next level and be a productive player from the start of her career.
DELANEY GIBB 2024 Kia Nurse Elite EYBL
She simply makes winning plays every game for her squad. She is at her best out in transition finding teammates for easy baskets. Her basketball IQ is what set her apart from others over the weekend. She simply does not turn the ball over or allow the defense to dictate the pace that she is going to play at. She has a quick release on her shot and is not afraid to get into the paint challenge players at the rim. A legit national prospect who is going to only get better over the rest of the summer.
MACY SPENCER 2023 The Hoop Society
Many could argue that she was one of the best pure shooters in the entire country. She has a flawless stroke on her jump shot and does not need much room to get it off. She has an extremely high basketball IQ and does not force things offensively. Spencer has become of the hottest prospects in the region over the last month and she did not disappoint over the weekend leading her squad to the championship game in the platinum division of the Clash of the Clubs. She is an elite level prospect who college coaches were following throughout the entire event.
JUSTICE CARLTON 2024 Cy-Fair Elite EYBL
Carlton was the most dominant player on the floor every game she played. She simply imposed her will on the court offensively as well as defensively. She scored the ball around the rim at ease with either hand or when the defense doubled, she found open teammates with her court vision. She has added the ability to turn and face and shoot ball from 15 feet and beyond consistently which has made her even more of a problem to stop. When it is all said and done, she has chance to be a top 10 national prospect and play at power 5 school from the day she lands on campus.
HANNAH HIDALGO 2023 Philly Rise EYBL
Hidalgo understood the assignment leading up to the spring and made sure that everyone would understand why college programs from all over the country have made her a top priority. She plays the game at a pace that many of her peers simply cannot keep up with. She is constantly in attack mode and never takes her foot off the gas. Defensively she can guard anybody in the half court with her speed and basketball IQ. One area that she has really improved over the last year is her ability to shoot the basketball. She is not a legit three level scorer and should continue to dominate over the remainder of the summer.
GRACE KNOX 2025 Team Taurasi EYBL
Knox may very well have one of the biggest upsides in the class of 2025. She was all over the place on floor making all the right plays. She showed her ability to guard multiple positions and be a dominant force for her squad. There were not many players in the event who rebounded the ball the way that she did. She showed her growing ability to knock down shots in the half court and showed glimpses of her ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Although it is early, she is one that many of the schools to were paying close attention.
